A Staffordshire-based charity that helps people suffering with drug and alcohol addiction is expanding its services with the launch of a new day centre.

Better Way Recovery has agreed a five-year lease on ground floor and basement accommodation at The White House, Church Street, Tamworth, commercial property consultancy Burley Browne announced today.

The charity provides services in Lichfield, Burton upon Trent and Tamworth. It aims to create a safe, respectful environment for people with substance misuse problems and is run and supported by service users with many years’ experience in active addiction.

Better Way Recovery works alongside all key agencies in the area, including MPFT Inclusion, in developing a network of contacts to assist with individual needs, providing signposting and peer support for education, volunteering opportunities, work, family support and introductions to local recovery support groups.

Eleanor Robinson-Perkins, agency surveyor at Burley Browne, said: “Last year, we successfully secured a property in Lichfield that now serves as a vital hub for Better Way’s essential services. Over time, I have gained invaluable insights into their mission and the profound difference they make in the lives of those they serve.

Recently, the charity expressed interest in expanding their reach in Tamworth, and I immediately recognised an opportunity - my retained clients’ property at The White House presented itself as an ideal location for this expansion. It is inspiring to witness how strategic real estate decisions can facilitate growth and create lasting change within our communities and we wish them enormous success.”

Peter Griffith, founder and service manager of Better Way Recovery, said: “This will be a gamechanger for anyone struggling with substance issues in the Tamworth area. Having Better Way and Inclusion STaRS under the same roof will give people the best opportunity to get support and find recovery. The White House is perfectly situated and we can’t thank Burley Browne enough for the help in securing it.”

The White House is a refurbished Grade II listed commercial property offering 2,412 sq ft of ground floor and basement accommodation. The property is prominently situated in Tamworth town centre, near retail and leisure amenities, and adjacent to Tamworth Assembly Rooms.

Better Way Recovery aims to help, encourage and support service users out of the problem and into a positive solution.
